Lesson 25 Turtle position (bottom)

1. Double leg takedown
2. Switch (sit out)
3. Guard recovery (sit back and front roll)
4. Turtle defense, Arm pin roll
5. Hammerlock

The turtle position is an offensive and defensive position. If your opponent is in front of you, you can aim for the takedown or transition to the guard position. If your opponent moves around to the back, you can defend against the choke and maintain a stable base by tightening your armpits, so that your opponent cannot easily make the submission. By keeping your defense tight, you can take advantage of his opening and apply a counter submission or position switch technique.
